What cloud recording refuses
The addresses, sizes and limits a cloud recording will not accept, and what to do instead.
The Showreel Studio service records in a browser on the public internet, in a container of its own for each recording. To keep that safe it refuses some addresses and sizes. If a recording is refused, the message says why.
Addresses it will not open
- Your own machine:
localhostand127.0.0.1. - Private networks, such as
10.x.x.xand192.168.x.xaddresses. - Link-local addresses, which include the cloud's own metadata server.
- Names ending in
.localor.internal. file:addresses. An app that is a folder of files is sent with the recording instead, and opened from there.
The check runs when the recording is created, and again in the recorder's browser on every request, so a driver cannot go somewhere else part way through.

Other refusals
- Anything without a signed-in account whose organisation has a good licence. See Sign in and attach the licence.
